SMUGGLING
PROBATION FOR ART SMUGGLER
United States v. B. J., United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia at Alexandria.
Mr. B.J., a Fox News Technician on assignment in Iraq, pleaded guilty to Smuggling after being caught at Dulles Airport with 12 priceless Iraqi paintings taken from the former Iraqi Presidential Palace. After considering Mr. Amolsch's argument that Mr. B.J's spotless background and dedication to his community called for leniency, the government agreed to not seek jail time. Facing up to 60 years in prison, the Court sentenced Mr. B.J. to a period of probation.
