RAPE, ROBBERY AND ASSAULT CHARGES DISMISSED
State v. S.Z., Circuit Court for Worcester County, Maryland.
Mr. S.Z. was charged one count of Rape, two counts of Robbery, and one count of Assault after a young woman claimed that Mr. S.Z. broke into her hotel room and forcibly raped her. However, Mr. Amolsch's extensive pretrial investigation revealed that the DNA evidence did not support a claim on any sexual activity; that the medical exam revealed no signs of trauma; that the alleged victim had pursued Mr. S.Z romantically for years; and that the alleged victim had invited Mr. S.Z. to her room on the night in question. If convicted, Mr. S.Z. faced a possible sentence of 60 years in prison. After meeting with Mr. Amolsch and considering this evidence, the government dismissed these charges.
