SECURITIES FRAUD
ONLY 18 MONTH SENTENCE FOR $3.9 MILLION SECURITIES FRAUD
United States v. D.D., United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia at Harrisonburg.
Mr. D.D. was charged with Securities Fraud after defrauding investors out of $3.9 million as part of a complex bank debenture investment scheme involving the World Bank. Though the government originally sought a sentence of almost 5 years, Mr. Amolsch successfully argued for a lower sentence based on Mr. D.D.'s standing in the community; his long history of charitable good works; and his efforts at reform. After considering these arguments, the Court agreed and sentenced Mr. D.D. to only 18 months, saving Mr. D.D. 3 1/2 years in prison.
